Tell us your story.
I am a senior at Sehome High School and had to complete a senior project in order to graduate. I decided to do something for my project that I really had a passion for and wanted to do in the future anyway. For my project I wanted to create a successful jewelry business. That's exactly what I did! I'm going to keep the business long after the project is done and I've already completed one of my dreams and I'm only 18 years old!

Where do you sell your jewelry? Do you have any tips on selling there?
I sell my jewelry at parties and home parties. I also make custom orders for people who see my jewelry outside of a party and really like it. One tip I think is the most important is to keep all of your cutomers organized. I use QuickBooks for my business and that way I can see who has received their order, as well as what everyone ordered. This helps a lot, especially at big jewelry parties.

What's your biggest selling piece and why?
An intricate, almost braided beaded necklace. They are the biggest sellers at my parties because they look expensive but are relatively inexpensive to make so I can sell them for less. I can make them in any color of bead imaginable and that's why I think so many people like that particlar item the most.

What one piece of advice can you give to other aspiring jewelry makers?
Go with your heart! I knew a lot of people thought I would be unsuccessful with my jewelry business because I'm so young, but I knew it was what I wanted to do. I went with my favorite quote: "Follow your dreams, live the life you've always imagined." Just know that you can do anything you want to do.

Have you quit your day job yet? Can you give us any idea how much income your jewelry is making?
I've only had my jewelry business for about two months but I've made about $450 from two jewelry parties. It's hard right now to focus so much on the business because it's my senior year and I need to focus. But I'm so excited to really go forward with the business after school finishes!

What would you say to someone that might be hesitant to invest in Preston's course?
I've learned a lot of jewelry techniques, like wire wrapping, that I wouldn't have been able to without coming to this website and learning from Preston. It really helps!

Has jewelry making changed your life in any way?
I'm more confindent in what I know I can do. I'm not hesitant anymore, if I have a dream I'm going to go for it because that's what I did with my jewelry business.

Do you sell any of your work on line or on Ebay? Do you do well there?
No, but I plan to in the near future when I have more time to make a larger inventory.

What's your plan for the future?
I plan to go to a school of metal work and gem setting so I can expand my skills as a jewelry maker. I also want to get an associates degree in business so I can make sure that my business will always be successful.
