Tell us your story.
I have been making jewellery for a while, but nothing good enough to sell outside family and friends. I cam across Preston's website and was very impressed with the wire wrapping - so much so that although I couldn't afford the packages, I looked at the tips and the instructions and had a go..I have very little money and live on what you americans would probably call a trailer park! I enjoyed the eperience so much that i scraped together some cash and bought wire and gems from this site. I had an idea for wrapping donuts, and developed some styles - I also started making earrings with wire and swarovski crystals

Where do you sell your jewelry? Do you have any tips on selling there?
I have just started selling through a shop in the local town - I was browsing in the shop when the shopkeeper noticed my pendant. She admired it, and so I said I was looking for an outlet...the girl said her mum who owned the shop might be interested... and her mum liked them and bought them! I also sell at local craft fairs, and have started doing jewellery parties.
It pays to be cheeky - wear your jewellery all the time, and don't be shy about saying you made it...also go into likely outlets and get chatting to the shopkeepers...

What's your biggest selling piece and why?
So far my biggest selling pieces are the semi precious wire wrapped donuts...they look unusual and I try to use the best quality donuts I can.

What one piece of advice can you give to other aspiring jewelry makers?
Even if money is tight, try and afford the best quality wire and stones you can.

Have you quit your day job yet? Can you give us any idea how much income your jewelry is making?
I also run a theatre based training business so I haven't quit yet - however the jewellery is selling now, and hopefully will do more once the parties are off the ground.

What would you say to someone that might be hesitant to invest in Preston's course?
Well I think it looks brilliant- I hope to buy one soon to further my skills! So I would say if you can afford it now - do it!!

Has jewelry making changed your life in any way?
I feel very happy that I am using my physical creative skills - it's given me so much more confidence in my other business!

What's your plan for the future?
I hop to run more parties, and get more outlets for my jewellery. I would love it to become profitable, and run alongside my other business!
