Supplies Required - Getting Started Begin with 4 8 ½” 24 g Sterling Silver Square wires. Clean, straighten and tape the four wires together. |
Step 1 Take 22 g ½ round wire and form a 4 wrap band in the centerpoint of the four wires. Using 22g ½ round wire make another band ¾” away from center band on each side.
Step 2 Using a ¾” equilateral triangle pendant, center the center band at the point of the triangle. Bend the wire at the point and cross the wires over each other at the top.
Step 3 Weave the front two wires together by crossing over each other at the top the same distance as the bottom portion of the triangle to form a diamond shape; secure the wires by wrapping in a single loop around the remaining wires. Secure the cab by pushing the front 2 wires over onto the face of the cab and the back 2 wires onto the back of the cab.
Step 4 Take the next two forward wires and weave them over each other above the last two and secure them around the remaining two wires with a single wrap. Repeat one more time with the third (forward most) set of wires to form the diamond basketweave over the pendant. |
Step 5 The remaining two wires are used to create the bail as follows: Wrap the two remaining wires with 22 g ½ round with thirty two wraps, fold the wrapped portion in half and wrap the bottom portions together to form a fully wrapped bail. Open up or “round” the gap with a mandrel if necessary. Complete the piece by taking the remaining two wires and secure them with a single wrap to the bottom part of the basketweave portion of the pendant. Measurements can be adjusted slightly and make the same pendant using a square of rectangle as shown finished below.
