Unexpected Jewels

by Judy Larson
You never know when you might come across something that was never intended for jewelry, but would be perfect for something you are or will be making.
Instructions
My daughter gave me one of her extra bags of Beta Jewels she uses in her fish tank.

The edges of these multi-sized glass jewels, which come in a variety of colors, are not sharp like chips but softly rounded.

Because the jewels are transparent, light reflects off the shiny silver backing of these bezel settings and bounces through the jewels.

The smaller jewels, which look like tiny green bubbles, were used in these small bezels.

Tucking a few small beads among the jewels adds visual interest.

Clear resin is added to hold everything securely in place.
IDEA: I love all the colors Beta Jewels come in.

Make a shamrock-shaped bezel for the green jewels, a wave shape for the blue, a marquis shape for the purple, and a diamond shape for the clear jewels.

For more interest, create smaller, taller versions of the same shapes and place them inside the larger bezels.

Fill both layers the extra walls will make the jewels sparkle even more.
