Quick n Ezy Patina

by Kristal Wick
There are many ways to patina your metal but sometimes I'm in a hurry and need a quick fix so to speak. A friend's birthday pops up or you need a quick gift, you know what I mean....Here's a quick-n-ezy patina you can whip out in minutes.
Instructions
I like to make a piece with a lot of texture so the patina really shows up. Here I hammered a silver wire frame.

Using a Sharpie permanent marker (any color), color in the entire area you wish to patina.

Using a polishing pad (POL-695.00 works the best), rub the higher areas to remove the color. Leave the color in the nooks and crannies. Remove as much color as you wish.

You can spray with an acrylic sealer if you wish but I usually leave it alone. You can see the difference in the bottom of the frame where I patina-ed it and the plain silver on the top of the frame here in this image. Do not patina the back side of the piece as it may rub off onto your clothing or skin.
