Make a Dustproof Polishing Tent

Abrasive wheels and polishing buffs give off a lot of dust that is bad for you to breathe in and also creates a big mess in your work area. An easy solution is a polishing box or tent. This one is super quick to make and it can be stored away when not in use.

Instructions

I originally made a polishing tent using A4 (210 x 297 mm) perspex, or acrylic sheets (https://www.wirejewelry.com/jewelry_making_tips_techniques/Make-Yourself-a-Polishing-Tent_201.html), which is also a very good size for polishing small pieces. This one is an upgrade in size to A3 (297 x 420 mm) and also has plastic covered sides to keep dust and fumes inside.

I have used 3 clear A3 perpex (acrylic sheets) pieces and I first tape them together with packing tape to make it easier to keep them in place. Packing tape is easy to remove after as it is easy to see and not as sticky as normal tape.

I folded up both end pieces, with the packing tape on the inside, to form a triangle and taped the top join together with clear, wide sticky tape. I then taped the 2 other joins and removed the inside packing tape. A3 white paper can be taped to the outside bottom to reflect light and make everything easy to see.

You can really use anything to contain the ends of the tent. I used 2 small plastic grocery bags. I taped them all around and cut a small hole for my hands to fit through. Paper or cloth would also work.
