Avoiding Hand Fatigue and Chafing

by Sarah Thompson
Avoid hand fatigue and help eliminate chafing while working with your wire. Some tools and materials easily available to the jewelry maker can be a godsend when you're spending long periods of time weaving.
Instructions
How to avoid hand fatigue:

To cut back on hand fatigue use a ring clamp. The ring clamp has leather inserts that grip the base wires without marring. This allows you to hold onto the clamp which is more ergonomic instead of the smaller wires.

Avoid Chafing on the fingers:

Because we are letting the small gauged wire run along our fingers, chafing can happen. Fabric tape is a great way to protect your fingers creating a buffer between you and the wire. It is pliable and does not restrict movement in your hands. Use the tape anywhere that the wire is bothering you.
