A neat way to use and store your bench block

Storing your bench block in a foam lined box makes it easy to access, dampens the noise and vibrations, and protects it from the elements that can cause rust.
Instructions
I have used an old gift box that is slightly larger than my bench block. I have used the lid of the box as the base because it is lower and gives me access to the sides of the bench block when I need to hold chain links in place. I have used some foam pieces from packaging that fit tightly in the base of the box, you could also use neoprene or cut up an old computer mouse mat.

When not in use the box covers the block to protect it from moisture but your bench block is easily accessed when needed.

Pack foam into the base of the box to dampen the sound and vibrations.

I chose to invert my box and use the lid as the base so I can access the sides of the bench block without removing it from the base.

The base needs to be lower than the block so you can hold links against the block for texturing.
