Instructions
Step 1
Take a scrap piece of wire and measure around the desired ring size. (You'll need to increase the ring by half a size. For example, if you want to make a size 7, measure a size 7.5).

Step 2
Measure the scrap wire on a ruler. Cut 2 segments of 20 gauge wire that are the length of the scrap wire plus 4 inches. (For example, the scrap wire was 2", add 4" for a total of 6").

Step 3
Find the center of the scrap wire and the 20 gauge segments of wire and line them up. Then mark the ends of the scrap wire on the 20 gauge segments of wire.

Step 4
Next, wrap the 28 gauge weaving wire around one of the 20 gauge wires 3 times.

Then, set the other 20 gauge wire on top and wrap the wire around both wires. Next, bring the wire in between the two wires from the back, then around the top wire.

Step 6
Wrap the wire around the bottom base wire and then around both base wires.

Step 7
Then bring the wire in between both base wires and around the top wire. This is called the "Modified Soumak" weave. Continue steps 5-7 until you weave from one sharpie mark to the other. (DO NOT cut the weaving wire once you finish the band!)

Step 8
Note: Make sure to scoot the wire down with your pliers to keep your weave neat. You can also use a clamp or painter's tape to hold the wires while you weave.

Step 9
Here's how the complete weave should look. Next, bend the bare wire 90 degrees each direction. The wire should look like an "H". Next, wrap the woven band around the ring mandrel until the ends meet.

Step 10
Now take the weaving wire and bring it around the opposite wire and wrap it around that wire one time. Next, wrap it around both wires and then the top wire one time. Finish securing the wire by wrapping it around the first wire one time.

Step 11
Now cut the weaving wire leaving at least a 6" tail.

Take your weaving wire and wrap it around the other side 3 times to start a new weave. Then wrap it around both wires, then the opposite wire and around the starting wire one time to secure the weave, like the previous side.

Step 13
The stone should sit in the center spot of the ring, like so.

Next, take the outer wires and bend them over the band of the ring as shown. Once situated, set your stone under the wires. Next, secure the stone with the wires.

Step 15
Wrap the wires around the band and then cut them off with your flush cutters. From there, use your chain nose pliers to tuck in the remaining wire against the band.

Step 16
Now use the remaining weaving wire to coil the remaining 20 gauge wires. Then, wrap the coiled wire around the band of the ring next to the previous wire.

Next, trim the wire about 1/4 from the coil and use your round nose pliers to curl the wire towards the stone.
