Instructions
Step 1
Take 2 pieces of 0.8mm/20 gauge wire approximately 30cm each in length

Step 2
Starting from the centre of the wires, wrap them side by side, using 0.4mm/26 gauge wire.
I have kept my 0.4mm/26 gauge wire attached to the reel or bobbin.

Step 3
Once the 0.4mm/ 26 gauge wire is secured around the bottom of the 0.8mm /20 gauge wire, trim off the tail end of the 0.4mm/ 26 gauge weaving wire and tuck in to ensure it does not catch or scratch.

Step 4
Using a "2,2 weave", wrap twice around the bottom wire and twice over both of the wires.

Step 5
Repeat this weave for the length of the circumference of the hole in the doughnut.
To find the circumference of the inner hole, position a scrap piece of wire around the hole and then measure this against a ruler. (I have continued this weave for approximately 3cm, using 8 repeats)

Step 6
Keeping the 0.4mm/26 gauge weaving wire attached, bend your wires to create a circle to fit the hole in the doughnut.

Step 7
Bring the 0.8mm/20 gauge wires up so that they are running straight and parallel to each other at the top of your circle.

Step 8
8. Weave these 4 wires together, I have continued a 2, 2 weave moving up and down the four wires to create a triangle/pyramid weave by wrapping twice each time over the bottom two wires, the middle two wires and the top two wires before weaving back down again to wrap the middle two wires and the bottom wires.
To achieve this, wrap around the bottom two wires twice, bring the weaving wire between these bottom two wires, over the middle two wires, back between the bottom two wires again and over the middle two wires for the second wrap. Then bring the weaving wire up between the middle two wires, over the top two wires, back between the middle two wires and over the top of the top two wires. The weaving wire comes back through the bottom two wires, over the middle two wires, back through the bottom two wires and over the middle two wires for the second wrap, then underneath the bottom wire and over the bottom two wires twice.

Step 9
Push down your weave with your pliers after each repetition to create a neat weave and continue this for approximately 12 repetitions.
This part of your weave will become your bail, so it needs to be long enough to run to the top of your doughnut, for the length you would like your bail to be and along the back of your doughnut, so that the weave finishes at the top of the hole on the back of your doughnut.

Step 10
Once you have your desired length, cut the 0.4mm/26 gauge wire from your reel and secure in the tail end with your pliers.

Step 11
Position your wires against the front of the doughnut stone, aligning with the hole and bend using your fingers or bail step making pliers (or even a pencil) to create your bail height and shape.

Step 12
Bring the unwoven lengths of the 0.8mm/20 gauge wire through the hole in the doughnut, and through the circular weave so that they come up through the front of the stone.

Step 13
Separate these wires out, so that you have two wires on either side of the weave and bail.

Step 14
Then bring each pair of wires back around the doughnut and through the hole again. This will secure your bail in place.
You can flatten these wires to the stone using your fingers or nylon coated pliers.

Step 15
The four tails of 0.8mm/20 gauge wire should be protruding through the front hole of the doughnut, you can now curl these using round nose pliers to create decorative swirls and curls.
