Instructions
Step 1
Cut a 3 1/2" segment of 16 gauge wire. Bend the tip slightly with your chain nose pliers.
Step 2
Wrap the wire around a 10mm dowel to create a hook
Step 3
Use your round nose pliers to create a swirl at the other end and have it meet the middle of the wire just under the tip of the hook.
Step 4
Cut a 3 1/4" segment of 18 gauge wire. Create a brief swirl at the top of the wire with your round nose pliers.
Step 5
Mold the 18 gauge wire around the shaped 16 gauge wire.
Step 6
Next, create a small loop facing outward at the other end of the 18 gauge wire.
Step 7
Here's how the wires should sit. Adjust as necessary.
Step 8
Next, hammer the base wires to add texture and flatten the wire.
Pro Tip: You don't need to use a lot of force with the hammer. Simply "dropping" the hammer on the wire is all the force you need to flatten the wire.
Step 9
Cut 45" of 28 gauge wire for weaving. Fold it in half and begin wrapping the right half of the wire around the 18 gauge wire 3 times.
Step 10
After wrapping around the 18 gauge wire, set the component in the 16 gauge wire and wrap the weaving wire around both the 16 and 18 gauge wires 2 times.
Step 11
Wrapping up the right side, wrap the 28 gauge around the 18 gauge again 3 times, then around both wires 2 times.
Step 12
Repeat this pattern until you reach the end, but don't cut the weaving wire!
Step 13
String on the 3mm bead and secure it to the end. Finish the weave by wrapping around the 18 gauge wire 3-5 times.
Step 14
Trim off the excess and tuck in the wire with your chain nose pliers.
Step 15
File the tip of the hook to smooth out the wire. You can also do this with an emery board.
Step 16
Continue to weave the same pattern up the left side of the clasp.
Step 17
As you weave, be sure to include wrapping in the swirls by using this pattern: (3x around 18g, 2x around both, 3x around both + the swirl, 2x around both, 3x around 18g).
Step 18
Weave until you reach the top of the hook. Wrap the weaving wire around the 18 gauge wire 3-5 times and then trim the excess.
Step 19
Tuck excess wire with your chain nose pliers.
Step 20
Here's the finished clasp.
Step 21
Next, to create links for the bracelet, cut a 5" segment of 20 gauge wire and create a loop at the end with a slight tail.
Step 22
Wrap the tail around the base of the loop 2 times. Tuck in the end with your chain nose pliers.
Step 23
String on a 6mm bead. Place the tip of your round nose pliers at the bottom of the bead and pull the wire to the side.
Step 24
Create another loop and begin wrapping the tail around the bottom of the loop.
Step 25
Continue wrapping the wire around the base wire, around the bead and then around the other side of the link.
Step 26
Trim the excess wire.
Step 27
Tuck in the small bur from cutting off the excess.
Step 28
Cut another 5" segment of 20 gauge wire and create another loop at the end of the wire with a small tail. Before wrapping the wire around the base of the loop, string it onto the previous link.
Step 29
Secure link by wrapping the tail around the bottom of the loop 2 times. Cut off the excess.
Step 30
Place the tip of your pliers at the base of the bead and pull the wire to the side.
Step 31
Wrap the long tail around the bottom of the loop and down the bead, like before.
Step 32
Cut off the excess and tuck the bur with your chain nose pliers.
Step 33
Continue adding links until the bracelet is the desired length. (6-8 inches on average for women).
