Stainless steel elements have a beautiful mirror sheen and they contrast nicely with the strong patterns of the rings in the Byzantine weave. The chain in this necklace is a medium weight, it needs to have a bit of substance to go with the size of the chain maille

Instructions

Step 1

Using 5/32" rings attach 2 rings to the bail. Take an open ring and go through the 1st 2 rings, and close the ring. Add another ring in the same place.

Step 2

The last 2 rings that were added are folded or rotated back towards the bail, one on either side. The 1st rings added to the bail are now at the front at the bottom of the pendant. These rings need to be parted and with an open ring go through both of the folded back rings in the space where the front rings are parted. Add another ring in the same place.

Step 3

Add 2 rings to the last 2 rings and then add another 2 rings to the 2 rings just added.

Step 4

The last 2 rings are folded back as before and the rings that are now at the front bottom of the pendant are parted. Using a 3/16" open ring go through the circle bead (you will need to open this ring a little wider than usual to get into the bead) and through the 2 folded back rings where the outer rings are parted. Add another 3/16" ring in the same place.

Step 5

To finish the chain take an open 5/32" ring and go through the last chain link at one end and also go through the loop on the clasp and close the ring. At the other end of the chain take an open 5/32" ring and go through the last link and close the ring. Before you add this last ring just make sure the ring will fit through the bail, if it won't you'll need to slide the pendant onto the chain first.
