Instructions

Step 1

Measure the distance around the ring mandrel at the desired size, then add 4" to that measurement. Cut 4 wires to this length. Then, from the center, mark the distance of weaving needed to create the band minus 6mm for the stone. (Otherwise the woven band will be longer than desired.)

Step 2

Holding the wires, wrap your weaving wire around the 2nd to last base wire 3 times to start the weave.

Step 3

Wrap the weaving wire around the center two base wires 3 times.

Step 4

Then, wrap the weaving wire around all four base wires 5 times.

Step 5

Wrap the weaving wire around the center two base wires, again, 3 times. Repeat this pattern until you have woven the marked distance.

Step 6

Wrap the woven wires around the ring mandrel leaving some space on top to weave the seat for the stone.

Step 7

Feed the weaving wire underneath the top of the ring band and back over the top.

Step 8

Then, wrap the wire around the bottom base wire one time.

Step 9

Repeat steps 7 & 8 several times to create the seat for the stone. Cut off excess weaving wire.

Step 10

Direct the innermost wires over top the band, then underneath the ring band.

Step 11

Pop in the stone and wrap the base wires around the ring band to secure it. Trim off the excess wire and tuck it in with your pliers.

Step 12

Adjust as necessary to ensure that the stone doesn't pop out.

Step 13

Grab your weaving wire and wrap it around the innermost base wire 3 times. Then, wrap it around the innermost wire and center base wire 3 times.

Step 14

Next, wrap the weaving wire around all three wires 5 times, then again around the innermost two base wires 3 times. Continue this pattern for a total of 4 rotations. (3 times around the two wires and 5 times around all three wires.)

Step 15

Direct the woven section of wire alongside the stone setting. Then, wrap it around the ring band, cut off the excess and tuck in the wire with your pliers. Repeat steps 13-15 on the opposite side.
