Sleek and linear, hammered aluminum wire is accented with stamped and inked stripes and sparkling beads for a striking finish. Don't be too aggressive with hammering your wire, you want to make it flat enough to pierce a hole but not so flat it becomes brittle.

Instructions
Step 1
Cut two 2" segments of wire.

Step 2
Hammer the wire flat using the flat end of a chasing hammer on steel bench block. Make the ends slightly wider than the centers. Don't overdo this, you just want to be sure the ends are wide enough to accommodate the hole punch.

Step 3
Use the round end of a chasing hammer to add texture.

Step 4
Use heavy grit sandpaper or a jeweler's file to smooth any sharp edges on the ends of the wires.
Step 5
Hammer stripes in the wire using a flat screwdriver, placing the wires on a bench block and striking the top of the hammer with the flat end of your chasing hammer. If you're using any metal other than aluminum, you may need a brass stamping hammer here. Repeat moving down wire in ¼" increments.

Step 6
Pierce holes in center of both ends of wire.

Step 7
Spread a thin layer of black enamel paint over the stamped wires. Let sit for a moment, then wipe the surface with a paper towel or soft cloth to remove excess paint. Paint should sit in the recessed areas of your stamped wires.

Step 8
Make wire wrapped beaded dangles with all four beads. Thread a bead on a wire. Grasp the wire at the top of the bead and bend at a 90-degree angle over the jaw of your pliers.

Turn wires a half step, and wrap the wire up and over to create a loop.

Step 10
Grasp the wire end with chain-nose pliers and tightly coil the wire down the neck, working to the top of bead. Cut off excess wire.

Tuck the wire tail into the coil using chain-nose pliers.

Thread an oval bead on a jump ring and securely attach to one end of the wire.

Thread a round bead and the open end of the wire on an ear wire. Secure closed.
