This is a very simple and quick design to make. You can create many variations with different connectors, allowing you to easily co-ordinate with any outfit. These bracelets are also stackable.

This tutorial includes 2 variations for the connector.

The measurements given in this lesson for a 7 1/2" inner circumference.

Instructions

Step 1:

Prepare the bracelet wire

Cut a 9" length of 14-gauge wire and straighten it by holding one end in the chain nose pliers and pulling the length through the nylon-jaw pliers a couple of times.

Step 2:

Shape the bracelet

Hold the center of the wire against the widest face of the bracelet mandrel.

Shape the wire around the mandrel, smoothing the wire into position with your thumb.

Check the sizing of your frame, the inner circumference should be 7 1/2".

Step 3:

Form the loops

Grasp one end of the wire with the very small tip of the round-nose pliers. Form a small loop the faces the frame. Repeat on the other end.

Step 4:

Make the loops smaller

Snip the very end of the wire off, holding the flat edge of the cutters at a 90 degree angle to the frame.

Notice how this opens the loop again.

Use the round-nose pliers to close the loops.

Grasp the loop carefully in the chain-nose pliers and squeeze so that it gets smaller.

Be very careful the pliers don't slip, as they will mar the wire. If this does happen, file and sand any marks out.

Note: - the loops need to be small enough to fit the connector loops over.

Step 5:

Finish shaping

Grasp the frame on one side, just after the loop with the round nose pliers, about 1/4 of the way down the jaws. Turn the pliers so that you form a hook shape in the wire.

Repeat on the other side.

Return the frame to the mandrel and check the shape and size. The gap between the ends should be 1".

Step 6:

Begin to form the connector

This lesson includes two variations of connectors. The first is a simple 3 bead wrapped loop.

Cut a 4 1/2" length of 20-gauge wire and straighten. Measure 1 3/4" from one end and make a 45 degree bend with the flat-nose pliers.

Grasp just after the bend with the round nose pliers and form a loop that is large enough to pass over the hook on the bracelet frame.

Step 7:

Close the loop

Grasp the loop with the flat-nose pliers and the short tail wire with the chain-nose pliers. Keep the tail at a 9 degree angle to the straight wire, wrap the tail around the longer length 3 times to close the loop.

Trim the tail wire and tuck the end in with the chain-nose pliers using a ratchet motion, pushing the end tightly against the length.

Step 8:

Complete the connector

Thread 3 x 6mm beads onto the wire.

Grasp the wire just after the beads with the flat-nose pliers and bend the wire 45 degrees.

Form a round loop and wrap as before. Curve the connector slightly with your thumb to match the contour of the bracelet.

Step 9:

Link variation

Cut a 9" length of 20-gauge wire and straighten. Measure 4" from one end and bend 45 degrees. Follow steps 6 to 8 but only wrap the loop twice

Step 10:

Add the details

Grasp one loop with the flat-nose pliers and the end of the wire with the chain-nose pliers. Wrap the wire over the first bead and bring it back to the front between the two beads.

Continue until you reach the other end. Wrap twice, overlapping the coils already there.

Complete the link

Repeat on the other end of the connector.

Trim and tuck the ends in. You are done!

In 2009 I decided to pursue a dream I had harboured for many years, to start my own jewellery business! So that is exactly what I did. The idea for writing this book seemed to me like a natural progression from the writing of individual tutorials.
