There was a cute commercial that went viral for a donut brand years ago and it featured a baker - sleepy tired from making so many donuts early in the morning saying, "time to make the donuts." Every time I see a gemstone donut, I think of this silly commercial. This time I decided to actually make one! Watch for the tutorial tomorrow.
My pal posted this beautiful image on Facebook and I knew it would be a great color inspiration for a jewelry project down the road. While visiting my local rock shop I ran across some stunning lapis donuts and knew this would be the perfect match of color to that image!

I used a large donut and did some simple wire wrapping. Then added a tad of copper crystals. Also, complimented the deep blue of the donut with the turquoise beads so they would really pop. The spirals symbolize growth, evolution and expansion. They are also a symbol of cycles and rhythm in nature. I find myself obsessed with spirals and love the finishing touch of a wire spiral in jewelry.
