Color Inspiration - Just Batty

There is nothing like a day trip to shake up the senses. One grey day we took a ride to Louisville, Kentucky to explore the history of an American icon, the Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory. Set in an historical neighborhood, the museum celebrates the role that the Louisville Slugger baseball bats have played in baseballs past, present, and future.

The on-site factory crafts 3,000 bats every day. Start the tour with a winning movie that explains sourcing the perfect wood, forests, and mills. Watch the bats being crafted, smell the wood chips, see the special bats made for specific players. It makes for a pitch perfect afternoon. This photo was taken looking up at the ceiling of the museums visitor center. Suspended bats and balls decorate the mobile looking space.

This memory wire bracelet takes the warm color cues from the various wood tones of the photo. Ebony black stain on the bats appear in my center round glass beads. Ginger double drilled beads evoke the length of the bats. Round ball shapes combine with light and dark bead wood colors to fashion a light weight unusual cuff bracelet.
