Color Inspiration - Hope Necklace

Lately I've been creating jewelry with a deeper meaning, an underlying vibe or flat out loud message (such as this piece). It must be the state of our culture, country, and planet that steers me from time to time in another direction artistically. I find the balance between pure expression and creating for money tricky at times. The freedom in creating something for yourself or a loved one is thrilling. Don't get me wrong-I LOVE making jewelry for moola but sometimes you need to tune out to tap in!
One of my pals sent me this stunning photo from the Netherlands and it filled me with a sense of wonder and a bit of sadness-kind of like the feeling in the world these days. Maybe it's the colors and wispiness of winter lurking around the corner. In any case I wanted to create something that reflected these inner feelings yet inspired a sense of hope so I got busy making this focal piece called, what else? Hope!

I made the silk fabric inside the glass bevel using surface design techniques from my book, Fabulous Fabric Beads: https://www.amazon.com/Fabulous-Fabric-Beads-Create-Jewelry/dp/1596680776/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=fabulous+fabric+beads&qid=1607467145&sr=8-1
I then sandwiched the silk between 2 glass bevels and soldered around the edges. I made numerous dangles using wire, beads and various tchotchkes. I then made the links with 20 gauge bronze wire and beads, work hardened the links and connected them with jump rings. The necklace is finished off with a clasp.

I think this one's a keeper!
