This week’s tool: Optivisors 2.5x Magnification

Demonstration by Kate, JewelryTools.com

Optivisor is the gold standard when discussing headband magnifiers with jewelry makers! Optivisors allow you to work on your jewelry without squinting, playing "trombone" with your work, or stopping your creative flow. Not only do the Optivisors allow you to see your work close-up while working with both hands, but the visor also helps you control your lighting, which reduces glare off those shiny wires and helps you see each wrap clearly! This is the brand of headband magnifiers you’ll see Dale "Cougar" Armstrong use in all her wire jewelry DVDs.

I see the Optivisor information says a 1.75 lend. How does that compare to the magnification designations on reading glasses? I buy mine at the dollar store, and use them for my work. They are a 3.0 – good magnification, but they don’t have the light feature. I’m getting cataracts, so need good light to see detail and color distinctions. The Optivisor would be ideal if the magnification is similar.

Rose, please explain the differnce in Wire Sculpture and Jewel;ry tools. Is it only the lens strenth? or what? I see about $10.00 difference, but for new business startups, this would related to products to sell. Thanks for all that you do for us.

Hi Betty, yes both companies carry the same optivisor brand/style but with different lens strengths. You will also notice that the WS Gold Club price is about the same as the JewelryTools price.
