Color Inspiration: Summer Flowers By Heather Powers
Wire Jewelry Article for July 19th, 2017
Tis the season for fresh cut flowers and beautiful bouquets. The wonderful thing about flower arrangements is that someone has already gone through the trouble of creating a beautiful color palette for you. Just pull out your beads and match up the colors. You can snap photos at a local flowers market, florist stand or bring home some flowers from your local grocer. And in a pinch, you can always head to Pinterest for inspiration from flower bouquets.
Even though I’m using a large assortment of colors in my design, they work together because the hues are compliments of each other: orange/teal, purple/yellow and green/pink and they are all close to the same intensity or brightness.
For this summery color palette, I used a photo from a trip to the farmer’s market. I love the playful colors of this arrangement. I pulled out my stash of sari silk in the colors of the blooms and a mix of Czech glass and polymer clay spacers to match.
I created a collar of hammered 14 gauge copper wire with the sari ribbon wrapped around the hammered pieces. I used 26 gauge wire embellished with coordinating seed beads to attach the silk to the wire. A sheet of floral textured copper turned into multi-stand connectors, transitions my three stands of hammered wire into a single stand of knotted beads. Peach colored waxed linen to adds a tiny pop of color between each bead.
You can find Copper Wire on our website WireJewelry.com.
