JOGS 2017 – Color on Metal and Beads

Today we feature two more of our 2017 JOGS Instructors:  Meredith Arnold and Olga Dillow

Meredith Arnold:

Known as a Comedian Artist, Meredith brings a depth of knowledge and humor to her classes to create a unique and fun learning experience for her students all over the world. She has appeared on PBS’ Beads, Baubles and Jewels, local college cable channels, in video and teaches online for Craftsy.

Meredith enjoys the challenge of bringing together a variety of media to create jewelry, sculpture, books and more. As the Director of ArtWorks in Edmonds, Washington, she has the privilege of working with artists at every level: mentoring, exhibition, developing programs, and as a resource for business practices and to help further their careers through marketing. She also teaches regularly at the Tacoma Metal Arts Center, Edmonds Community College, the Tucson Gem Show and other venues..

So you’ve made a wonderful piece of jewelry – now what? Getting the picture across is half the battle! Discover how to set up a portable photography studio and get the key pieces you need to photograph your jewelry without a lot of fancy equipment or cash outlay. And yes, you can get good pix with a smart phone these days once you know the tips and tricks to get great pix. Meredith has 30 years of experience in photography with a special focus on product photography. Her photographic work has been published worldwide in books, magazines, for promotional posters, and other print and web media.


 

Explore a wide variety of techniques in this class including enamel-look resin, colored pencils, and flame painting to play with patterns, colors and textures on metal. Lots of exciting options to work with will result in multiple pieces to use in in future work!

Olga Dillow:

I am a member of the bead family over 7 years. I entered several International contests that were held in Moscow, Samara (Russia), Oregon, Washington and Wisconsin states.

In 2009 and 2010 I entered annual bead contests sponsored by Fire Mountain Gems and was awarded with Grand Prize Gold Medal in 2009 and Silver Medal Prize in 2010. Fire Mountain Gems published several of my pieces on their ads in such well known magazines as Bead & Button, Ornament, FMG’s years and monthly catalogs. I have a few publication in “Fashion” magazine. In 2012 my necklace was Finalist at Bead Dreams Show.

A few of Olga’s Classes:

During this class we will learn how to create a beautiful bangle bracelet with Swarovski crystals and seed beads. This is an intermediate class.


 

During this class we will learn how to create very pretty, shiny, useful, incredible Beaded Bead. When you know how to make one, you will available to create necklaces or bracelet in your own style, color and size
