Wire Jewelry Tip for April 11th, 2016
Button Earrings
by Albina Manning
I love Spring and Summer. They are my favorite seasons! With Spring, I look forward to cleaning and purging my home and especially my craft space. I always find a few left-overs that can be used for a new project. Today’s very simple tip would work perfect for those miscellaneous buttons, ear wires and beads that you have just sitting around.
Albina Says:
1. Use small 2-hole buttons as connector/ findings to hook ear wires and beads together.
2. Albina prefers to use oval jump-rings to connect the button and beads. CLICK HERE to see how Albina Makes her own jump rings. Very easy to do with a mandrel and wire.
For another great pattern that uses Buttons: Click to discover Albina Manning’s Button Ring Pattern. This pattern gives you a step by step wire wrapping instructions to make a simple button ring. Why not make a matching set of earrings and rings?
Get creative and use some of those left-overs…
Have fun and Happy Wrapping!

I am so sorry, but this one really does not count as a “how to”. It looks like it could be a great idea. I like the earrings, and I feel like I could almost figure them out, if only the photo was a bit larger, or I could see the earring from a different angle. But I guess I am too much of a beginner or something….I just can’t do the guess work on my own with this one without at least a little guidance on how it is done. This is just frustrating and disappointing.

Lyonne,
We’re so sorry that you are having difficulties. Here are a couple of suggestions. If you click on the photo, it should open in another window and be quite a bit larger. You should be able to see the details a bit more clearly from that. Also, the wire that is put through the buttons are jump rings. There are two other links in the post: One that sends you to another post about making and using jump rings, and one about making a Button Ring. Both are helpful and should give you some ideas to help you make these earrings. Also, I would suggest taking a look at this additional post. https://www.wirejewelry.com/jewelry-making-blog/frequently-asked-questions/ It has links to many other posts to help you learn basics to get you started. Don’t feel frustrated, just just jump in! Learning is about trying things, making mistakes and trying again.. I’m sure once you get started… you’ll do great!
