To get started, you’ll need the following tools and materials:
Tools:
- Shaping mandrel
- Metal shears
- Flush cutters
- Protective surface (rubber mat, or a cookie sheet)
- Solderite soldering board
- Pickling pot with Sparex solution
- Copper tongs
- Quench bowl & towel
- Torch (Kim uses Sterno Culinary head with Butane fuel can)
- Cross locking tweezers
- Bench Block
- Cross peen hammer
- Brazing rod, about a 6″ maximum section (89% copper, 6% phosphorous, 5% silver)
- Round bail making pliers, such as Wrap & Tap
- Round nose pliers
- Chain nose pliers
- Brass Brush
- #0000 Steel wool
- Bench top buffing machine with 2-7/8 fiber wheel, if desired
Materials:
- Lampwork bead, or bead of choice
- 12-gauge round dead soft copper wire
- 14-gauge round dead soft copper wire
- 16-gauge round dead soft copper wire (make sure the bead fits on this wire!)
