Creating with Pattern Wire

Have you used pattern wire before? Pattern wire adds personality to each piece you create and comes in a variety of patterns and sizes. Create bangles, bracelets, rings and anything else you can dream up with floral pattern wire, rope pattern wire and more. Our pattern wire is ideal for both men and women’s jewelry.

This week we feature a great jewelry making idea from Rhonda Chase using our base metal patterned copper wire. Rhonda created these beautiful earrings by using Waves Copper Pattern Wire, along with her regular flush cutters and screw punch. They turned out gorgeous! What a great way to use pattern wire.    These are gorgeous!!!! I will be making these, thank you for posting these. Actually, these are one of the nicest pieces of jewelry I have seen posted on any of the jewelry web sites.

   After seeing these earrings on the website many months back, I had to try them. They turned out nicely but after several wears, the stamped copper tarnished – a lot. I realize that’s the nature of the metal but was hoping someone here would have a solution to ‘fixing’ the finish. I lave quite a bit of the stamped copper left and would like to make more earrings for friends if I can treat or coat them so they won’t tarnish. They really are neat & I recieved several compliments on them. Any help?

   I\’ve read that \"Mop and Glo\", a polymer, floor cleaner will put a protective clear coat on copper that will prevent oxidation (greening). You must be certain to let it dry completely until it is colorless.

     Thanks. I think I have a bottle of it for wooden floors. I’ve also read on one of these exchanges about NuFinish car polish. I picked some up to try that too. Will report back if it works.

   I just purchased some pattered wire from you and didn’t know what I was going to make with it,although I was enthralled with the beauty of it. These earrings are quite lovely. As for the question of what to coat it with in order to stop corrosion, the clear polymer floor polish is perfect. I had purchacsed a tiny little bottle of “polymer finish ” at a craft store a while ago and every time I used it I would think I knew what it was made of. Finally one day I realized that the smell was floor polish. The little bottle cost more than a huge bottle of polish. We live and learn.

    How do you cut it??? I bought some 18 ga sterling years ago but didn’t do anything with it because of this problem. I was thinking of asking at the hardware store if they could cut it for me.
