“It’s always easiest to work on soft metal. When creating with metal, one generally applies compressive physical forces such as hammering, texturing, bending, and forging which will work harden the metal rather quickly. Rather than struggling to beat metal into submissions, make it easier on yourself and anneal often!”

    Well, tomorrow is the final day of the Tucson Gem Show (feb 17) and boy am I exhausted. I spent nearly every day running back and forth to my fav venues getting this and getting that and blowing my budget yet again, but I am one happy jewelry maker. I have enough supplies now for the coming season of craft sales. Today I was able to relax and get some torch work in that I’ve not had the time to do. I taught a friend to not be afraid of the flame of the torch as I was way back when. We did an enameling project together which was way cool and not possible without the torch. We’ve been annealing everything in sight now and making a very beautiful patina on copper too. I can’t believe I wasted so much time letting my fear keep me from this magical tool. Try it, there are so many wonderful uses for the torch, and if you have fear, just turn it on then off again and again until it no longer holds fear for you. I think you will be glad you did and won’t look back either. BeBeaz
