Green Druzy Wire Wrapped Pendant by Elizabeth Bisogni

When you’ve learned how to make a cabochon frame, why not start dressing it up? Elizabeth dressed up this druzy pendant by using pattern wire for the frame as well as twisted square wire. Then, she embellished the frame with a snapset stone surrounded by pearls! What a dose of inspiration!

Elizabeth says, I always loved pattern wire and I wanted to create something different besides bracelets. I took my Olive Green Druzy that I purchased at Wire Sculpture and wrapped it with 3mm Brass Pattern Wire accented with 20-gauge Sterling Silver twisted wire added 4mm white pearls and 8mm olive cz snapset. Then took a small piece of pattern wire and wrap it around the bail. Pattern Wire can also be used to make rings, which I have done also.

Rose, I, too, love to work with snapsets and with patterned wire. They can be so creative! But the designer of each pendant must be aware of the additional weight the patterned wire will add to the pendant, and allow for that when planning how the pendant will hang. To look its best, the pendant must hang straight and lay flat.

Rose, I agree with DeLane regarding a pendant to hang straight and the weight of pattern wire. If by some chance DeLane is referring to my pendant, I just want to make a note that I photograph the pendant at an angle so you would be able to see the pattern wire. I have worn this pendant several times and it always hung straight and you must realize that the Druzy stone is an odd shape not quite a triangle so it appears not to hang straight in this photo.

I do some wire wrap but I am timid! LOL I do add Swarovski crystals but looking at your marvelous piece, I am wondering how you “finish” the pattern wire used to wrap your bail.. how can you disappear the ends of it? I really enjoy it but it can sure be a challenge but it is fun when you make it work!
