You will need:

• 2 1/2″ of 18-gauge round dead soft wire
• Wire cutters
• Bench block
• Chasing hammer
• 3-step Round Pliers
• Round Nose Pliers

   Dale this was great.It really helps to see an actual image. I must thank you so much that there is text in the video, I am hearing impaired and have no hearing aide.

     Hi Lorraine, I am so pleased that you enjoyed Albina’s video tutorial on how to make a Fancy
     Split Ring. Unfortunately only Albina’s DVDs include sub-titles. However ALL of our instructional DVDs DO include detailed, written directions!

     I also have this problem and i find if I use the earphones that fit into your ears I can hear very well. Try it and see what you think. I also like the videos that this site has.

     I am also deaf and need captioned videos. The captioning on youtube is hilarious and always wrong..you have to have a great sense of humor to use the youtube videos with captioning! Any chance you can list which videos you offer with captioning? Thanks so much!

   I have to second Lorraine’s comment. I also have auditory disabilities and have found this video to be the most helpful of the ones I’ve found– because it provides subtitles. Detailed written directions are a great aid, but really no substitute for subtitles for those of us who really need them… I hope that the instructional DVDs will eventually upgrade to offering subtitles to make the more accessible to the diversely-abled.

     I agree with those who liked the captions and i am hearing impaired also and have had problem understanding those who show their video that I dont know what they are saying,,i wish all those who show any video would use those detailed words in captions so all of our hearing impaired can understand.

   I did not realize how many hearing impaired were, but go girls there is nothing we can’t do. I do have a hearing aid but even with that the subtitles help to make sure I get the details. I have Albina’s DVDs and the subtitles make them even more enjoyable. Thanks for this blog.

    I enjoyed the video very much. However, I am wondering why Wubbers aren’t used instead of the 3 step pliers. They are great for making loops! Thanks!

      You’re right, Sue – the Wubbers are great tools for making loops! There are a lot of round shaping tools out there, and Wubbers are among the best.

    I really like this fancy split ring but I am wondering how you get the pendant onto the split ring once it’s made? Some of the pendants I have seen have very tiny loops for attaching onto rings, bails, etc. In that case do you make the ring, put on the pendant and then curl the ends?

      That’s one way to do it, Elsa. You can also pre-make the split ring and attach it to the pendant as you finish the bail.

      Wanda, are you speaking of this video in particular or others? Generally if a video isn’t playing there are a couple of things to look at: 1: has the video loaded all the way yet and is it ready to play? If you will watch the gray bar to the right of the red volume slider (which is next to the arrow) you will see if fill all the way across to the right. As soon as it’s completely gray, the video will be loaded and ready to play. You may have to push the arrow to start the video once it’s loaded as well. If you are still having trouble with the video loading after you’ve give it a good amount of time, then you probably need to look at your computer or device settings and make sure that your not blocking the video or that you device isn’t compatible. Most of our videos are compatible with all devices, but we are currently updating our older ones, and there are still a few which are only playable if you have adobe flash. So, long story short.. be patient with you videos. They are big files and depending on the speed you are using on your device, it may take a minute or two to load. Good luck and please let us know if you continue to have problems.
