Question:

How do you weave wire?

Answer:

Weaving wire is a wonderful style of wire jewelry design that most often uses round wire and sometimes combines sheet metal and wires. The ‘weave’ can be anything from a simple braid using 3 or 4 wires to a more complicated technique such as is used to make baskets. Often the artist uses a vise to hold the beginning ends of the wires involved. Many textile weaving patterns can be altered to accommodate wire.

There are several people out there doing these techniques right now doing this technique from nautical knots to viking weaving to crocheting with wire. Ruth Poris’ book ‘Advanced Bead Work’, gives some info on using these techniqes incorporating beads, which definetly could be used without them too. There are also several webpages out there from master artists, many of which have pattern instructions or links to get you going. It definetly takes practice but the end results are wondrous indeed!
    Have fun

I concur with the others who would like to see an example of wire weaving, and perhaps some guidance.
Jessie MacD Adams replied that there are several webpages which have patters or links, but did not share the websites.
    Thanks so much—-
