Daily Wire Tip Aug. 14: Formulas for Pricing Jewelry
Daily Wire Jewelry Making Tip
August 14, 2010
Question:
I am new to this art and wondered if there is a formula for pricing the jewelry we make in craft shows or consignment shops.
Thank you for posting these tips; they have really given me a boost!

Answer:
Welcome to our “wired world”! (Warning, it can be addicting.) Pricing is the most difficult part of this or any art form! We do have several great items that can help you. A quick reference can be found in the article, How to Price Your Wire Jewelry. The companion article, Where to Sell Your Wire Jewelry, can suggest new venues.
The best assistance I can give you is to suggest our newest product, The Definitive Guide to Selling Handcrafted Jewelry.
I have to tell you, there is nothing else out there today like this guide, it really is amazing! (And it has a 365 day guarantee!) I wish you all the best!

I have been watching the DVDs (A Definitive Guide to Selling Handcrafted Jewelry) and loving it! Dale and her “team” are so down-to-earth and easy to understand when they discuss the issues that face all jewelry makers who want to sell their jewelry. Thanks Dale and Team.

Peg – thanks so much for your quick review of ‘The Definitive Guide’. I have to tell you that this product is my personal heart and soul. Everything I have gleaned from more than 35 years of combined experience in the sales, display and customer service fields has been filtered through and the most important highlights are featured in this new product. Again, thank you very much!

This was certainly a no answer-answer,except to try and sell a product to us. You could at least have given us 3-5 tips of what you think are the most important items to consider in pricing.

If you would follow the first link in my answer, you would find not just 3-5 tips, but many, many more! I am not ‘just trying to sell you a product’ here, but in the article mentioned, I give you pricing formulas, item percentage suggestions as well as display tips – for FREE. I have been selling my handmade jewelry for just 2 years and was taught to price this way. Add up the total cost of an item you made including all materials, multiply that times 4. This is a good starting point. However, do not forget to add in for packaging, shipping, etc…Hope this helps!
