Daily Wire Tip June 7: Tape for Wire-Framing
Daily Wire Jewelry Making Tip
June 07, 2010
Question:
I am spending time in a town with no fabric store. Can you suggest another type of tape to use in wire-framing instead of the quilter’s tape? Thanks!
Answer:
My most recent, favorite tape is pin stripe tape, which can be purchased as auto supply stores. My faculty and I also use painter’s tape. I have been known to use band-aid strips, electrical tape, or whatever is handy when necessary!

Painter’s tape is excellent, because it doesn’t leave residue on wire.

Yes Kathy – when you have a special order to make overnight in your hotel room at a show and forget the tape in your booth . . .

Well, I was taught with the transparent tape named for a type of liquor from the British Isles. It works, but often leaves a tiny bit of glue on things. Alcohol will remove it, or just a good polish.

How about Johnson & Johnson Paper tape?

If you wish to be able to remove and reuse tape more than once, paper tape will not work well as it will tear while removing it.

Just go to the art supply and pick up the blue painting tape, in rolls like masking tape. It works great, and pieces can be reused many times.
