Question:
I was told that you could only twist square wire, is that so?
Answer:
Well, you ‘can’ twist any wire shape, however round wire is already round and it will not show any difference, just become very hard. For a lot more detail and information regarding wire twisting, please read the following article: Getting Twisted

That is a great question and a fantastic article. Wire twisting isn’t complicated, but the amount of tools available for the process can be daunting. The results are stunning too! Thanks for a great read

I would guess that folks who use only dead soft wire might use this
as a technique to get harder wire without having to bash it for
eternity.
…or did I just give away someone’s jewelry secret?
Or will it get too brittle too fast?
I’m really curious.
I’m actually a newbie (at least when it comes to wire. Been an artist/bead stringer for a long time) about wire work.

No V, no secret as to hardening soft round wire by twisting, just be really careful about how much it is twisted as it does get hard rather quickly, which will cause it to become brittle and snap. Experiment. Welcome to our ‘twisted wire world’ : ) (Warning, it’s very addictive!)

You can however bend your soft round wire in half and twist it together or even twist silver and gold fill together.
