Featured Instructor: Albina Manning
Jewelry designer and instructor Albina Manning was born in Russia, in a small town not far from Volga River. In 2003 she moved to Arizona. Her works have been used by Fire Mountain Gems both as a back cover advertisement and inside their catalog. Albina has written several E-books and has been published in ‘Art Bead Circle Magazine’ , ‘Step-by-Step Wire Jewelry’ , as well as the book Mixed Media Jewelry Techniques, a collaboration with Dale “Cougar” Armstrong and eight other talented jewelry artists. Albina’s latest success is her Coiling and Weaving Wire Jewelry Designs Series, a 3-DVD series devoted to working with round wire to create beautiful designs, released through Wire-Sculpture.com.

Teaching is my passion. Jewelry class should be fun, so every single person there is having a great time, including me! -Albina Manning
As you can see, Albina has a knack for incorporating woven wire in beautiful pieces: some is so neatly done, that it looks like knit fabric! Albina has several tips to help you get consistent weaves and wraps, whether you’re using round wire or square. While weaving is a lot about using your thumbs and forefingers to direct and mold the wire, you can always nudge wires into place with chain nose pliers, using nylon jaw pliers to “erase” kinks in the wire if there’s a mistake.
And this will be the first time we’ve offered a wire crochet course, which I know will be very popular – it’s one of the classes we get asked about the most!
I asked Albina what her favorite thing about the Tucson gem shows is. She told me, “It is like a vacation for me. Some people go on a cruise, and I go to Tucson! ” The JOGS Show, which has many upscale gemstone vendors and gift booths as well as finished jewelry, is one of her favorite shows.
We are lucky have Albina Manning as one of the returning JewelryTools.com instructors this year in Tucson, January 29th – February 9th at the JOGS Show in Tucson, Arizona!
