Daily Wire Jewelry Making Tip
February 02, 2010
Question:
I was wondering if you can tell me how to find craft fairs, shows, etc. in my area so i can get my feet wet at salesmanship of my jewelry.
Answer:
If you go down to the bottom left of Wire-Sculptures pages, under our updated Resource Center, Events & Contests, click on Jewelry & Bead Shows to go to this page: https://wire-sculpture.com/pages/Jewelry_Shows_and_Bead_Shows.html. You can also do an Internet search for ‘arts & craft shows’, along with your city or area, which will bring up many results!

Start looking at your local newspapers, including the free ones. Event coordinators usually post ads in the newspapers for vendors a month prior to the show. Some shows are advertised several months in advance. Look at grocery store bulletin boards, convenience store bulletin boards, go to a craft show that is currently being held and talk to the vendors about where their next shows are. If you know of any street festivals or fairs that are coming up, call them and ask if they will be having vendors for crafts.
For your first shows you are going to want to stay local and small, until you get more experienced on how to set up your display and what to take. Most of the shows on the internet are bigger and farther away from home which usually means they are more costly.
I hope this helps.

Another idea to add is checking with your local Chamber of Commerce for any upcoming events you might not know about in your area. They usually have a good list of shows coming up for the year.
Also, if there is a local gem & mineral club that you could check out. Networking with other people is the best way for feed back on shows for dates, locations and results.
There are also several different publications you can pick up at a good book store in the magazine section that deal with nothing but assorted shows around the country.

Hi I went to the search and did not find any in my area. But, a good place to start is your local chamber of commerce. There are also postings for craft fairs in grocery stores, churches and ohter communtiy gathering places. Once you start with your first few shows you can talk with the organizer of the show and other crafters to find out where the next hot stop might be.

I live in Wisconsin. I went to Wisconsin Art and Craft Fairs 2010. Try this on the internet substituting your state. Should give a listing if there is anything at all.
