Wire Spirl Earrings

Technique: Twisting and coiling wire, making simple loops, adding beads

Instructions

  1. Cut the 12 inch wire in half. File all ends.
  2. Hold the end of the wire flush in the tip of your round nose pliers.

  3. Make a small loop in one end.

  4. Transfer to a nylon jaw plier. Place at the end of the plier.

  5. Continue the spiral by pushing the wire with your fingers and holding the spiral firmly in the plier. Open the plier and rotate as necessary.

  6. The wires in your coil should fit closely together.

  7. With 1.5 inches left, use your Wubbers flat nose pliers and make a 90 degree bend in the wire.

  8. Bring the end up and form around the spiral an end with a small loop. Adjust if necessary, the last small loop should sit in the center of the spiral.

  9. Repeat all steps with the left over 6 inches of 18 gauge wire. You now have your two base coils finished. Lay aside and work on the dangles.

  11. Cut your 22 gauge wire into 6 pieces of 4 inches. Line Break
  12. File all ends.
  13. Make a spiral as you did with the 18 gauge wire.Line Break
  14. When you have 1.5 inches left slide on a bead and gently bend up the wire.This will form a 'U' shape and the bead should fit firmly into this shape.

  15. Finish each spiral by shaping up along your coil and forming a small loop in the end. Cut and trim if necessary.

  16. Repeat for the remainder of the wires until you have 6 complete spirals with beads.
  17. Cut the chain in half. Swing the top loop of each spiral open with flat nose pliers and attach to chain. One at the top of chain, one in middle, one at bottom.

  18. Attach one large spiral to the top of the chain, repeat for other earring.
  19. Attach ear wires.
